YOUNGSTOWN Downtown Youngstown is set to act as the backdrop for several events across the city leading up to and during the weekend of August 1, 2025.

Wednesday

Recurring events open to the community every Wednesday include the "YO Spotlight Summer Concert Series" and the "East End Farmers Market".

The "YO Spotlight Summer Concert Series" features free, live music every Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. The concerts are located at Spring Commons Park, 534 Mahoning Avenue.

The concerts continue through August 27, 2025.

The "East End Farmers Market" takes place each Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Penguin City Brewery, located at 460 East Federal Street, and features vendors, produce and artisan goods.

Thursday

"Creative Thursdays", an open-air art night, launches on July 31 and will be recurring weekly.

The event invites creatives of all levels to bring their supplies and create art from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Phelps Street Gateway, nearby to the free parking on Commerce Street behind 20 Federal.

Friday

The "Greater Youngstown Italian Fest" kicks off on Friday and will continue through Sunday, August 3.

The festival, aiming to celebrate Italian American culture, features international entertainment, food, games and community spirit at Central Square in Youngstown.

On Friday and Sunday, the festival will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

On Saturday, the festival will be taking place from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

"Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons: The Last Encores" will take the stage at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, located at 260 West Federal Street, on Friday at 8 p.m. 

Tickets are available for purchase on the DeYor Performing Arts Center website.

Saturday

From 7 a.m. to noon, the Covelli Centre will be hosting "Black Men's Wellness Day", aiming to bring the community together for health and strength. 

The Covelli Centre can be found at 229 East Front Street.

Youngstown State University (YSU) will be hosting a "Meet the Team" day, featuring some of the university football players, beginning at 1 p.m.

Football team members will be available for photos and autographs at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) building on the YSU campus.

Additionally, the event will feature interactive games, food trucks and the NECA/IBEW push-up challenge featuring YSU players versus the 910th Airlift Wing.

Parking for the event is available in the M-81 lot.

Sunday

Every Sunday through August 31, Wick Park at 260 Park Avenue will be the setting for "Jazz in the Park".

Live jazz is featured at the recurring event from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The August 3 performance features Stacey "Sarah's Girl" Richardson and Bryan Golden, known as The Misfits.

Monday

Free, outdoor films are available to view on the lawn of Wean Park, 201 South Phelps Street, every Monday at 9 p.m. as part of the "Youngstown Summer Movie Series".

The August 4 feature being shown is "The Wild Robot", released in 2024.

A rain date for the film is set for 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
