Board of Health: Austintown restaurant temporarily closing after insects found inside building

Editor's note: The restaurant is located on Raccoon Road.
A restaurant in Austintown has voluntarily shut down temporarily to deal with an insect issue, according to the Mahoning County Board of Health.
The Mahoning County Board of Health told 21 News that the El Cowboy Tex-Mex Grill and Saloon on Raccoon Road voluntarily closed to deal with cockroaches at the location.
Cory Powell, a supervisor with the environmental health department for the county, said it is unclear where the insects came from, but the business volunteered to close the location until the issue can be corrected. Cockroaches can enter buildings in many ways, including with package goods or through cracks in building foundations.
The Board of Health showed up at the location on Thursday after receiving a complaint.
The Board of Health, which ensures compliance with the Ohio Uniform Food Safety Code through plan reviews and inspections, also noted that this restaurant keeps up with all required pest control.
Powell said the owner is working with the health department to resolve the issue and that they hope to reopen by early next week.
A post on the El Cowboy Facebook page said their taco truck will be in the parking lot of the former Georgetown on South Avenue in Boardman on Friday.
21 News has reached out to the owner of El Cowboy, but has not been able to reach him as of the publishing of this story.
