Ohio State Highway Patrol investigating fatal motorcycle crash in Unity Township

UNITY TWP., Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Lisbon Post is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Unity Township.
According to a news release, the crash happened on August 2 around 12:30 a.m. on Heck Road in Unity Township.
Cody Maddox Royal Brayshaw, 20, of Unity was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson west on Heck Road, approximately one half-mile away from Kibler Road.
According to the release, as Brayshaw was driving around a curve, he drove off the left side of the roadway and hit a tree.
He was taken to the hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
The release states that Brayshaw was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
New Waterford Fire Department and EMS assisted at the scene, along with Steve's Towing.
OSHP stresses in the release the importance of wearing a helmet when operating a motorcycle.
