WASHINGTON - Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions is recalling a brand of freeze-dried fruit sold at Sam’s Club stores, including in Ohio and Pennsylvania, because of potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The voluntary recall affects Member’s Mark Freeze Dried Fruit Variety Packs. The company said no illnesses have been reported.

The recall covers 15-count boxes of fruit snacks with the UPC number 1 93968 50900 2. The affected products were distributed between July 1 and July 25 and sold at Sam’s Club stores nationwide.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The bacteria can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The company said it discovered the problem through internal testing. The product was shipped to distribution centers in dozens of states, including Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Anyone with the recalled product should not eat it, but discard the fruit snacks and visit Sam’s Club for a full refund.

For questions, consumers can contact Doehler Dry Ingredient Solutions’ customer service at 770-387-0451, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.

The Food and Drug Administration is aware of the recall.
