WARREN A convicted rapist in Trumbull County has died in prison just five years into his sentence.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, 68-year-old John Hostetler of West Farmington died in prison on June 27, 2025. He was serving a life sentence for three counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition.

Hostetler's crimes happened between 2012 and 2013 and involved a nine-year-old victim. The crimes were first reported in 2020, and Hostetler was convicted that same year.
