Owners issue call to ‘shop local’ as Struthers butcher shop closes

STRUTHERS A local butcher shop that has been a fixture in the City of Struthers for the past seven years used social media to let its customers know that it’s going out of business.
"As a family, we have worked hard to provide a local spot to get great quality meats and top-notch service," the post read. "Unfortunately, with certain economic factors and career changes for our personnel, we are unable to continue on with that goal."
Located at 1026 5th Street, the shop has been in business since 2018.
The family expressed gratitude to their customers and the community for their support over the years. "We have had amazing experiences being able to serve our community and have made such quality friendships along the way," they wrote. "We will miss each of you and hope that those friendships will continue as we move forward in the next steps of our lives."
The post concluded with a plea for the community to continue supporting other local businesses. "Shop local, do the research to find out where you can use a local small business, spend the little bit more money to make a great difference in your local community!" it said. “There is nothing obsolete about helping local small business owners who are actually a part of our communities, it's cliché but every dollar your spend on local businesses does in fact help someone you know to provide a full life for their family and that may be a neighbor or a classmate to your children or a good friend you have known forever.”
The shop's space wasn't vacant for long. The storefront is now occupied by Moink's BBQ.
