Police at Hermitage company; HR says no concerns to the public

Police were at Miller Industries in Hermitage on Thursday morning, according to an employee at the facility. While it is unclear why police are there, but a caller told 21 News that some employees are being escorted out of the facility.
21 News spoke with the human resources office at the Hermitage location, which said there was no concern for people in the area, and they had no comment at this time on the situation.
A source says that Hermitage Police were on scene as a precaution when employees were notified of the layoffs.
Miller Industries, a Tennessee-based company, released a statement Thursday that the company would be reducing its workforce by approximately 150 employees. The company manufactures heavy-duty towing and recovery equipment, according to its website.
The statement said the reduction would be "across three manufacturing facilities as part of a comprehensive cost reduction plan designed to enhance operational efficiency and ensure the Company's long-term success."
"This was an incredibly difficult decision, and we understand the impact it will have on our employees and their families," said William G. Miller II, CEO of the Company. "We are deeply grateful for the contributions of each individual who is leaving the Company. They have been instrumental in our success, and we wish them well in their future endeavors."
The press release stated that the company is "committed to supporting affected employees during this transition by offering financial and benefit assistance, as well as outplacement and career transition resources to help affected employees navigate these changes."
