Results from August 15 sobriety checkpoint in Youngstown released

YOUNGSTOWN On August 15, 2025, an OVI checkpoint was conducted by members of the Mahoning County OVI Task Force and the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
According to the release, the checkpoint was held in the area of 2214 Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Now, the Mahoning County OVI Task Force is releasing the results of the OVI checkpoint.
A total of 338 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and seven vehicles were directed into the diversion area for further investigation.
Enforcement activity associated with the checkpoints and saturation patrols were listed in the release, including:
- Two arrests for OVI
- Two felony arrests for drug abuse
- Five summonses for driving under suspension
- Two summonses for no operator's license
- Three citations for adult restraint
- One citation for marked lanes
- One arrest for resisting arrest
- One summons for drug paraphernalia
- One summons for open container
- One arrest on an arrest warrant
According to the release, the Mahoning County OVI Task Force is committed to making roadways in the county safer.
Task Force agencies that participated in the OVI checkpoint included Boardman, Canfield, Jackson, MCSO, Milton, Poland Township and Springfield.
The task force is funded by a federal grant that is administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
