YOUNGSTOWN Downtown Youngstown is gearing up for another batch of events this week including live music, markets, the 16th Annual Panerathon and much more. Here's everything you can expect to find downtown this week.

Spring Commons Park on Mahoning Avenue will see another weekly installment of the YO Summer Concert Series Wednesday, August 20 from noon to 2 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their friends and some lawn chairs and enjoy the music.

If you're looking to get your steps in for the day on Wednesday, downtown will also be the site of Walk Wednesdays, a free community walking class. Step off will be at 12:30 p.m. outside The Mocha House on East Boardman Street and will proceed to Wean Park.

Walk Wednesdays events are hosted by Mercy Health Stepping Out, the Healthy Community Partnership and Youngstown State University Campus Recreation.

Mahoning Valley history buffs can head to the Tyler History Center Thursday, August 21 for its lunchtime Bites and Bits of History lecture from noon until 1 p.m. The topic for this lecture will be the Mahoning Valley in the New Millennium. 

Those looking to support local businesses can stop by Penguin City Brewing Thursday evening for the Penguin City Night Market, running from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Night Market features vendors, crafts, workshops, artist and non-profit spotlights, specialty drinks, and food trucks.

Those looking to create art themselves can stop by the Phelps Street Gateway for the weekly downtown Makers Night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Artists can bring their art and craft projects to work on and share their work with others.

Sunday, August 23 is jam-packed with events including the 16th Annual Panerathon at the Covelli Centre. This 10k and 2-mile run and walk will support the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. Registration begins at 8 a.m., the 10k starts at 10 a.m. and the 2-mile run and walk begins at 10:05 a.m.

Also happening Sunday, Penguin City Brewing will host the Kids Carnival Brunch from noon until 4 p.m. The event will feature bounce houses, games, special guests and more. The event is free and is also dog-friendly.

YSU's Women's Soccer team will also be hosting a game on Sunday, going up against St. Bonaventure at Farmers National Bank Field at 1 p.m. on YSU's campus.

Also on YSU's campus, the Butler Institute of American Art will hold a free lecture from the museum's Executive Director and Curator Dr. Louis Zona at 2 p.m. Sunday. Seating is limited for this event.

Finally, folks can wrap up their Sunday at Wick Park for another installment of the Jazz In the Park Youngstown Concert Series at 3 p.m. This week's installment will feature Rock, The Band With No Name.
