Hubbard police arrest woman who allegedly fled on minibike

HUBBARD A woman who Hubbard Police say gave them the slip during a minibike chase in July has now been arrested and is facing felony and misdemeanor charges.
Kathleen M. Gerda, 43, of Youngstown, was booked into the Trumbull County Jail on Tuesday on an arrest warrant issued July 3.
Hubbard police say Gerda was stopped on a minibike on July 1 near the intersection of Doris Drive and Raymond Drive. According to a police report, an officer recognized Gerda from a previous meeting, and she told him she had an active warrant. A records check confirmed there was a warrant for a probation violation from Girard Municipal Court.
The officer informed Gerda that she was being taken into custody and offered her the option of having someone pick up the minibike to avoid it being towed. As the officer was speaking with another officer, Gerda allegedly started the minibike and fled.
Officers lost sight of her and were unable to locate her at the time. A warrant was requested for her arrest on charges of failure to comply with an officer's order, willful or wanton operation, and driving a special vehicle on a highway.
Gerda pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor traffic charges during an arraignment on Tuesday. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 28.
