YOUNGSTOWN Ursuline High School has released a statement on allegations made against members of its football team earlier in the summer.

The allegations stem from a football team trip in June. At the time, the school did not go into detail about any of the allegations, only saying it was investigating "inappropriate behavior" involving team members.

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown told 21 News no one has been placed on leave during the investigation period.

In Friday's statement, Ursuline still did not provide any details on what allegedly transpired, but said this was an "isolated incident" involving a "limited number" of team members.

According to a schedule posted to Ursuline's Facebook page, 41 players went on a trip from Ohio through Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky.

The post with that schedule has since been deleted once the allegations were made public. Since then, the case was put in the hands of the Youngstown Police Department.

Despite the deletion of this post, Ursuline says there has never been and will never be any attempt to cover up the incident.

Ursuline says they cannot release any specific details on the alleged event due to student privacy laws, but says any concerns related to student behavior were addressed in accordance with the school's Code of Conduct.

The statement does not specify how this situation was addressed.

"We remain committed to reviewing our policies and procedures to help prevent incidents like this in the future. In addition, teams and coaches will receive further training to support a safe, positive and inclusive team envrionment," the statement reads.

Youngstown Police tell 21 News the investigation is still ongoing as of Friday, August 22. Police are still gathering information, and it has not been determined yet if charges will be filed.
