CORTLAND Police, the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Trumbull County Coroner are continuing a death investigation at a home in Cortland after a woman's body was discovered over the weekend.

Police officers found the body just before noon Saturday, as they were called to check on the welfare of a resident along the 400 block of North Mecca Street.

The Trumbull County 911 dispatch center confirmed that emergency medical services also arrived at the scene.

The woman's identity or cause of death has not yet been released.

Authorities taped off the house as part of their ongoing investigation.

Police say in a Facebook post that they don't believe there is a threat to the community.
