BOARDMAN Officials of the Boardman Locals School District announced that the school district was honored with the Auditor of State Award for the fiscal year of 2024 on Monday.

According to a news release, the award recognizes excellence in financial record keeping and sound accounting practices.

Superintendent Chris Neifer, State Auditor's East Region Liaison Dawn Baker, Treasurer A.J. Ginnetti and Board President Vickie Davis, all pictured above from left to right, were pictured with the award on Monday afternoon.

"We thank Treasurer Ginnetti and his team for their high attention to detail," said Davis.

Davis continued," He is constantly monitoring the District's finances, balancing the needs of our students and staff with fiscal responsibility to the taxpayers."

The State Auditor's Award is presented to approximately 10% of local governments and school districts throughout Ohio each year, according to the release.

Approximately 4,000 audits are completed annually.

To qualify for the award, entities must meet strict standards, including timely financial reporting, compliance with ethics requirements and adherence to public meeting and record laws.

"It is definitely a districtwide team effort to earn an Auditor of State Award, and I appreciate the support my team has received from our Board of Education and our Boardman administration and staff," said Ginnetti.

Additionally, Neifer added the following statement regarding the receipt of the award.

"Starting the school year with this recognition reinforces our commitment to fiscal strength and stability, which is critical as we focus on providing the very best education for every Spartan," said Neifer.
