Grove City Police: 15 empty hard seltzer cans found in teen's car after chase, crash

GROVE CITY, Pa. - A Grove City teenager is facing multiple charges after a chase that ended when the teen, who allegedly had fifteen empty hard seltzer cans in his car, crashed into a front yard.
Jack Porter Wagner, 18, is charged with a total of nine offenses, including fleeing and attempting to elude police, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to stop at red lights and a stop sign.
According to an affidavit, a Grove City police officer on patrol saw a white Kia sedan run a stop sign at the intersection of Erie Street and South Center Street at about 11:45 p.m. Monday. The officer tried to pull the car over, but the vehicle sped away.
The complaint states the Kia ran two red lights and reached speeds of 69 in a 25-mph zone as the officer pursued it for just over half a mile.
The chase ended when the driver failed to negotiate a turn, drove over a curb, struck several street signs, and came to rest in the front yard of a home on Liberty Street.
When Wagner was asked why he fled from the Police, he allegedly told the officer, “I'm drunk!” The officer reported finding ten empty cans of White Claw and five empty cans of Truly hard seltzer at the driver's feet and under the seat.
Wagner was taken to a hospital for chemical testing but refused, according to the complaint. He was then taken to the Mercer County Jail.
Wagner was arraigned Tuesday morning and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 17. He is also charged with purchasing or consuming alcoholic beverages as a minor and restrictions on alcoholic beverages.
