CANFIELD  The Canfield Fair begins its 179th year today, with the opening day schedule featuring a range of agricultural and entertainment events in addition to the famous fair food, attractions, entertainment, and rides.

Activities for the day included livestock judging, demonstrations, and the induction of individuals into the Ag Hall of Fame.

In addition to horses, ponies, goats, sheep, chickens, goats, and rabbits, judges will be awarding the best fruit, hay, grain, honey, and even beeswax.

The day's events spanned multiple venues across the fairgrounds, from the Michael Kusalaba Event Center to the Grandstand. The fair's opening day proceedings are part of its six-day run, which concludes on Monday, Sept. 1.
