Mercer County animal park holding naming contest for baby giraffe

GROVE CITY, Pa. - An animal park in Mercer County has announced the birth of a female giraffe calf at 9 a.m. Tuesday, adding a fourth offspring to Keystone Safari’s resident giraffe pair, Levi and Blue Jeans.
The calf weighs 154 pounds and stands approximately 6 feet tall. The birth was monitored by Keystone Safari's animal care team, which allowed the mother and baby to bond before a wellness check. Following the examination by the park’s veterinarian and senior staff, the calf was reported to have no initial health concerns.
Levi and Blue Jeans, who were raised at Living Treasures Wild Animal Park in New Castle, were moved to Keystone Safari in late 2018. The pair’s previous calves are Calvin, born in 2017; Timber, born in 2021; and Keyari, born in 2023.
To mark the birth, the park has started a naming contest that will run through Labor Day. Park guests who purchase admission will receive a single entry for the contest, which is held at the giraffe barn. The staff will choose the name from the entries, and the person who submitted the winning name will be awarded two season passes to the park.
The giraffe family is on view for visitors at the giraffe barn. The park is asking guests to speak softly while in the barn. The barn may be closed to the public for brief periods of 15 to 30 minutes to allow the calf and mother to rest and nurse. During these closures, guests can still view the giraffes through observation windows.
Keystone Safari is a 144-acre animal and adventure park in Grove City, Pennsylvania, located at 2284 Mercer Butler Pike.
