Trustees in Bazetta Township are looking to be proactive with the community's future.

On Wednesday, Trustee chairman Michael Hovis said an updated 10-year plan will replace the township's current comprehensive plan.

"We formed a committee, from that committee we started having meeting and we started gathering information from our residents to see what they're looking to have in this comprehensive plan," said Hovis.

The plan is a snapshot of current conditions in the community: evaluating land use, zoning appropriations for both residential and commercial uses, as well as infrastructure such as water and sewer lines needed. A planning method that will help decision makers anticipate the the township's future and be able to provide for its needs.

"It's going to be revisited every two years and then full overview every ten years," Hovis added.

Hovis pointed to tech giant Amazon, which is building a new distribution center on 61 acres on Perkins Jones Road Northeast. The company agreed to run 2,000 feet of sewer line to the site.

"We want to make sure our residents understand the property use of the land in Bazetta Township...They're going to k now what's going to be built next door to them and what's permissible through zoning," Hovis explained.

This decade-long blueprint will replace the current one that's about run it's course. Trustees are working with the Trumbull County Planning Commission, and hope to have it rolled out early next year.
