HERMITAGE  The annual Buhl Day celebration is set to return for another year, with a parade, live entertainment, and a wide variety of food options for the whole family on Labor Day.

The day's events will kick off with the Buhl Day Parade at 9:30 a.m. at the Hermitage Towne Plaza, travelling west on East State Street in Hermitage to Buhl Boulevard in Sharon. From there, it will travel north into Buhl Park.

Beginning at 8:45 a.m., East State Street will be closed at Dutch Lane/Maple Drive to Buhl Boulevard. Affected areas will include all side streets between the two points as well as all areas between Highland Road and the Shenango Valley Freeway.

There will be limited access to the Hermitage Towne Plaza.

The annual 5k run will start at 9:15 a.m., before the parade. All roads will reopen at 11:30 a.m.

Following the parade, family-friendly activities will take place from noon to 4 p.m. on Pokorney Drive. These include a "Rainbow Bounce House," a "Princess Bounce House," a "Double Lane Slide," and a "Dunk Tank." For teens, the park will offer axe throwing, a basketball challenge, and a temporary tattoo station.

Live entertainment will run throughout the day at the Performing Arts Center. The Shenango Valley Chorale will perform from 11:30 a.m. to noon and again from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m., following the opening ceremony and national anthem.

The main musical act will be "Parrots of the Caribbean," a Jimmy Buffett tribute band, performing from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Other live entertainment includes the Buhl Mermaids at the Casino Pool at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and a Children's Theater Showcase at 2 p.m. The Reunion Band will close out the day's performances from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

A diverse selection of food vendors will be on-site, with options ranging from classic fair foods to more unique offerings. Buhl Park Cabin Café will serve cheeseburgers, nachos, and apple dumplings.

Other vendors include Giovanni's/Everyday I'm Catering with pizza slices and meatballs, and Haitian Sensation with pulled pork sandwiches and Caribbean punch. The Kiwanis Club of Shenango Valley will offer sausage sandwiches, while Rita's Italian Ice and Custard will provide frozen treats. Visitors can also find kettle corn, funnel cakes, french fries, and other snacks.
