Niles man begins sentence for traffic death of motorcyclist

NILES A Niles man has reported to the Trumbull County Jail to begin serving a sentence for a traffic accident that claimed the life of a Warren motorcyclist.
Twenty-one-year-old Sebastian Tulanko was booked into jail on Thursday to serve the first of several staggered weekends behind bars after pleading guilty earlier this week to vehicular manslaughter.
The charge stems from a two-vehicle accident that occurred on July 24, 2025, on Route 422 at Frederick Street.
According to Niles police, Tulanko was driving a Ford Crown Victoria just before 4 p.m. when he failed to yield while making a left turn, striking a Harley Davidson motorcycle head-on.
The motorcyclist, 58-year-old Jeffrey Lawrence of Warren, was transported to Mercy Health in Youngstown, where he later died from his injuries.
According to court records, Tulanko was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 18 months of probation, and an 18-month driver's license suspension. He was also ordered to pay a $500 fine and complete a three-day driver intervention program.
Tulanko’s jail sentence is scheduled to be served in nine installments of four days each, primarily over weekends.
Court records show his scheduled release for the current term is Aug. 31. The remaining jail terms are scheduled from September through early November.
