EAST LIVERPOOL A man has been arrested in Chester, West Virginia after police say he led officers on a chase through the East Liverpool area.

According to a press release from Chester PD, the chase began after a Columbiana County Sheriff's Office deputy and an officer with the East Liverpool Police Department attempted to pull over an allegedly stolen vehicle on SR-39.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, identified as 41-year-old Van Keith Jones of Massillon, was wanted by the Massillon Police Department for robbery, strangulation, intimidation of a witness, violating a protection order, theft and domestic violence.

According to the release, Jones had made suicidal and homicidal threats and was believed to be armed.

Police say Jones did not stop and led officers on a chase into West Virginia before stopping just before the Chester exit on U.S. Route 30. It was there that Jones was taken into police custody.

In addition to the charges out of Massillon, Jones is also facing charges out of West Virginia stemming from the chase including bringing stolen property into the state, fleeing from an officer and driving with a suspended license.

The Columbiana County Sheriff's Office, the East Liverpool Police Department, the St. Clair Township Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff's Office all assisted with the chase.
