BOARDMAN  The Youngstown Business Incubator announced Tuesday the four companies selected to pitch at its annual Shark Tank fundraising event on Oct. 23. Each company was chosen after a competitive review process.

The YBI Shark Tank provides entrepreneurs with an opportunity to pitch their ideas to "celebrity sharks" and investors before a live audience, where they can gain exposure and potential investment.

By hosting the event, sponsors strengthen economic development and support thriving communities in the region by fostering connections with entrepreneurs and community leaders.

The selected companies are Nivalon Medical, a firm developing a spinal implant designed to restore motion and reduce patient complications; LeapFast Manufacturing Inc., a company focused on advancing aluminum fabrication and other metals for industries including aerospace and defense; Gizmo and Trinket, the creator of The Oracle, a smart dice tray that connects physical dice to digital gaming platforms; and Rapt, an artificial intelligence-powered Bible study application that generates personalized devotionals.

Each of the four companies will receive a minimum of $5,000 for their participation, with the potential to win an additional $10,000 in prizes. A total of up to $15,000 in prizes will be awarded.

"This event shines a spotlight on the future of entrepreneurship in our region," said Luke Politsky, YBI's director of development. "Each company reflects the innovation, resilience, and creativity that YBI is proud to support."

The panel of judges will include area business leaders Don Thomas, Rob Komara, Wayne Mackey, RT Vernal and Amy Abruzere.

The event will be held at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center in Boardman. Doors open at 5 p.m. for a "blue carpet" event before the pitch competition.

YBI is a nonprofit focused on economic development through innovation and entrepreneurship. The organization provides resources and mentorship to businesses and startups in the region.
