YOUNGSTOWN A Youngstown man caught by agents with 21 pounds of methamphetamine and two pounds of fentanyl was sentenced to 23 years in federal prison Wednesday, a case in which court documents mention his father, who was murdered weeks after a drug raid, had told his son not to sell drugs from his home.

Rayshawn Hall, 24, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Christopher Boyko after pleading guilty in April to a range of charges, including distribution of fentanyl and methamphetamine, and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release after his imprisonment.

The sentence was imposed nearly two years after federal agents and a local task force raided a Park Hill Drive home where Hall sometimes stayed with his father, Alfred Hall. According to court documents, agents conducted several controlled drug buys from Rayshawn Hall between August and October 2023.

During the search of the home on Oct. 19, 2023, agents found more than $56,000 in cash, with some bills matching serial numbers from earlier controlled purchases. A key fob in Hall's bedroom led agents to a black Chrysler vehicle parked at the residence. A subsequent search of the car, with the father's consent, uncovered a FedEx box containing approximately 21 pounds of methamphetamine and two pounds of fentanyl.

The affidavit for the search warrant, unsealed earlier this year, revealed that Alfred Hall had told investigators that he believed his son was selling drugs and had told him not to sell them from his home.

Alfred Hall was fatally shot at the same residence on Nov. 27, 2023, just over a month after the drug raid. Authorities have not publicly identified a suspect in the murder, and no arrests have been made.
