Greenwood Chevrolet presents $5,000 to Joanie Abdu Breast Care Center

YOUNGSTOWN & AUSTINTOWN Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown met with representatives from the Mercy Health Foundation on Friday to present a $5,000 donation to the foundation.
The donation is planned to go toward the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center (JACBCC), located at 1044 Belmont Avenue in Youngstown.
According to the center's website, the JACBCC was created with the aim of delivering accurate prevention, early detection, diagnosis and support services to the community.
In addition to this donation, another donation was given to honor one of the employees of Greenwood Chevrolet, Business Manager Tracy Briden.
Briden, according to a news release outlining the check presentation event, has been active and involved with Panerathon every year.
The Panerathon 2025 event ended on August 24. This annual event is also geared towards raising money for the JACBCC every year, with over $5 million being raised in the past 15 years of the event's history.
Briden told 21 News more about how she and her coworkers at Greenwood Chevrolet have been impacted by breast cancer, and why they've gotten involved in the Panerathon.
"It just touches so many people, and so many people have experienced it. So, they say 'I want to be involved, I want to help, I want to donate', and that's where it's really fantastic.
Briden indicated that 180 people participated on the Greenwood Chevrolet team during the Panerathon 2025 event. The team also donated $3,145 to the cause.
Donations awarded during Friday's check presentation will go towards Joanie's Promise, which aims to help provide comprehensive breast cancer care to women across the Valley.
"It also provides for an outreach specialist to go into the rural and urban communities to explain breast care and self-exams and cancer in general to women," said Gina Marinelli, the Senior Gift Officer with the Mercy Health Foundation.
Marinelli went on to say that donations like these help support the JACBCC across the board.
"Donations like this are great because it helps support the Joanie Abdu Center and our outreach. It helps support the programs, the patients themselves and the equipment," said Marinelli.
