Driver charged with OVI following two-car crash on I-680 in Boardman
BOARDMAN - A driver has been charged in connection with a two-car crash that temporarily backed up traffic on a highway in Boardman Sunday afternoon.
Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP) responded to a two-car crash at 4:47 p.m. on the southbound lane of I-680, just south of U.S. Route 224.
According to OSP, a Honda Civic traveling northbound lost control of the vehicle. The car drove left-of-center, over the median, across the southbound lane and into a guardrail. After striking the guardrail, the car moved back into the road and hit a Ford Escape.
The southbound lanes were backed up with traffic as crews cleared the scene. The lanes have since reopened.
A sergeant with OSP tells 21 News the driver of the Honda Civic, identified as Jessie Vega was charged with OVI, as well as an open container violation and failure to control.
There is no word on a court date for Vega at this time.
No one was sent to the hospital, but some were treated for minor injuries on the scene.
OSP is now handling the investigation.
