EAST LIVERPOOL  Emergency sirens in Beaver, Columbiana, and Hancock counties will undergo a scheduled test on Tuesday morning.

The sirens, located within a 10-mile radius of the Beaver Valley Power Station, are set to sound a three-minute, steady tone at 11 a.m. The test is a federal requirement to ensure the sirens are working correctly.

The Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency will also issue Wireless Emergency Alert and Integrated Public Alert and Warning System notifications to residents in East Liverpool, Liverpool Township, Calcutta, St. Clair Township, and Middleton Township, which are within the emergency planning zones.

Officials said no public response is necessary during the test. The siren signal would be used by county emergency management agencies to notify residents in the event of an emergency at the power station.

If an actual emergency were to occur, information would be broadcast on local Emergency Alert System stations.
