YOUNGSTOWN  A motorcyclist is hospitalized in critical condition, and a driver has been arrested following a hit-and-run accident on Youngstown’s Southside.

Police and the fire department were called after a car and a motorcycle collided after 1 a.m. Thursday at South Avenue and East Florida Avenue.

When first responders arrived, they found a damaged motorcycle on its side and the rider seriously injured.

According to a police report, the driver of an SUV failed to yield while turning onto East Florida Avenue and struck the motorcycle, resulting in the rider being thrown off of it.

Police say the driver of the SUV's breath smelled of alcohol and that there was an open bottle of beer on the floor of the vehicle and another closed bottle on the passenger seat.

Court records show the driver, identified as 39-year-old Megan Price was charged with OVI refusal. She's set to be arraigned Friday, September 12.

The car and the driver believed to be involved in the crash were found later along Florida Avenue.  Police say the driver was taken into custody and is expected to face charges.

Police say the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and was last reported to be in critical condition.
