YOUNGSTOWN The man who was convicted in 2024 of murdering a four-year-old boy in Struthers in 2020 was resentenced on Tuesday.

Twenty-three-year-old Brandon Crump was originally sentenced to 52 to 53-and-a-half years to life in prison on several charges including aggravated murder, attempted murder, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, escape and conspiracy, along with several three-year firearm specifications.

The resentencing hearing resulted in Crump's conspiracy charge being merged with his charges of aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. This merger did not change the amount of time Crump would serve in prison.

Crump was convicted in connection with the murder of four-year-old Rowan Sweeney in September of 2020 in a home on the 100 block of Perry Street in Struthers.

Crump entered the home, demanded money and shot four adults, along with Sweeney, who was asleep in his mother's lap.

DNA evidence on a shell casing, along with cell phone data placing Crump at the scene and videos on Crump's phone all assisted in Crump's conviction.

Crump's co-defendant Kimonie Bryant is currently serving a sentence of 20 years to life in prison, and his other co-defendant Andre McCoy is serving a sentence of 15 years to life in prison.
