Warren church breaks ground on senior housing development
WARREN - A local church and its community celebrated a groundbreaking ceremony on Sunday that will help provide affordable housing for seniors.
Third Christian Church Disciples of Christ and Ohio Thanks You are joining forces to build new housing developments to Warren and Valley seniors aged 62 and older.
It will provide seniors with an affordable, safe and stable place to stay while maintaining their independence.
"This project is more than just bricks and mortar—it's about dignity, security, and hope for our senior citizens," said Pastor Beverly Locke of Third Christian Church. "We are grateful to partner with Ohio Thanks You to bring this vision to life and provide lasting benefits for our community."
The developments will feature one-story apartments named The Patricia Homes. It will include two bedrooms and an attached garage. Once completed, the development will have eight rental units, with more on the way.
The naming of the apartments is in memory of Patricia Smith, Pastor Locke's mother and former member of the Third Christian Church.
Along with the groundbreaking celebration, the church is also celebrating its 105 year anniversary this month.
