Report of a person with a gun closes Streetboro schools

STREETSBORO, Ohio - City schools in the Portage County community of Streetsboro canceled classes on Monday after a city employee reported seeing a person with a "long gun" near a school bus garage.
According to a statement from the Streetsboro Police Department, an employee saw a male walking on State Route 303 near Kirby Lane at approximately 6 a.m. The individual appeared to be carrying a long gun. Police were unable to locate anyone.
As a precaution, the bus garage on Annalane Drive was placed on lockdown, and the school district decided to close schools for the day. Streetsboro City Schools announced the closure on social media, citing "police activity in the area."
A police search of the area included putting drones in the air. As of 9:25 a.m., the exterior areas around the school campus had been searched and cleared, but officers were continuing a building-by-building search.
The police department asked anyone with security cameras in the area of SR 303 with video from 5 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. to contact dispatch with any information.
