YSU introduces metal detectors for high school football games.

Following a Cardinal Mooney student being shot on Saturday outside of Stambaugh Stadium, Youngstown State University will be increasing security measures for this Friday's football game against Boardman.
A YSU spokesperson told 21 News that metal detectors will be in use at the upcoming Mooney-Boardman football game on Friday.
"This measure will be part of enhanced security protocols starting this Friday and continuing for all high school football games hosted at YSU moving forward," said Becky Rose, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications for YSU.
"We are committed to ensuring a secure environment for all attendees, and as part of our ongoing efforts, we are working closely with local law enforcement. Regarding the process for admitting guests into the stadium, there are no significant changes planned. The presence of metal detectors will streamline the entry process and contribute to a safer experience for everyone," Rose added.
Upgrading security was discussed during YSU President Bill Johnson's State of the University address on Monday.
