GIRARD A new cannabis dispensary offering prodcuts for both medical and recreational use held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Girard Wednesday afternoon.

Curaleaf celebrated the grand opening of its fourth location in Ohio and its first location in the Mahoning Valley at the former Family Video storefront at 801 North State Street.

The business offers cannabis products for Ohioans with a medical marijuana card, as well as products for all Ohio adults age 21 and over with a valid ID.

Curaleaf Regional Senior Marketing Manager Lissa Satori tells 21 News the store has been open for just over a week and the reception from the community has already exceeded expectations.

"We are the very first [cannabis] store in Girard, and we have certainly heard from a lot of the people here that they are really thankful to have a local option so that they don't have to travel to get what they need," Satori said.

Satori went on to say Curaleaf's staff is committed to helping customers and answering any questions they may have.

"The thing about cannabis stores in Ohio is they're still relatively new. A lot of people don't even know that anyone over the age of 21 can walk into a store and purchase [cannabis]. And every single person has one time where it's their first time walking into a store, and we're here to help find what works for you with you," Satori said.

Curaleaf is open 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Sundays.
