Meridian Healthcare to begin $2M expansion project at Youngstown campus next week

YOUNGSTOWN Meridian HealthCare will hold a groundbreaking ceremony next week for a $2 million expansion and renovation project at its Meridian Road campus.
The non-profit organization will officially launch the work on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m. at its facility located at 527 N Meridian Road.
The project is set to add 3,000 square feet of new space and renovate the existing 26,094-square-foot campus. Funding for the expansion includes a $1 million state capital grant approved by the Ohio Controlling Board.
Meridian HealthCare, which provides integrated primary care, mental health and addiction services, will use the expansion to introduce a new on-site pharmacy, along with more counseling offices and exam rooms. It will also include an enlarged multipurpose space for group sessions and staff training.
Larry Moliterno, president and CEO of Meridian HealthCare, noted the expansion aligns with the organization’s care model.
“This expansion will enhance access to our integrated care model—combining behavioral health and primary care services under one roof,” Moliterno said. “By adding a pharmacy and more clinical space, we can better serve the growing needs of our patients and community.”
The project is expected to create 10 new jobs. The organization currently employs 250 staff members across its facilities in Youngstown, Warren, Boardman, and Poland.
This marks the fourth expansion at the Meridian Road location since the facility first opened. Meridian HealthCare has delivered care and treatment services in the Mahoning Valley since 1974.
The renovation is scheduled for completion by early 2026. The organization has committed to providing services at the expanded location for at least 20 years as a condition of receiving the state grant funding.
