POLAND The Village of Poland, alongside the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has proposed the installation of a new multi-use path along Sheridan Road.

The proposal calls for an 11-foot wide, off-road asphalt-paved multi-use path along the east side of Sheridan Road from an existing path near Delaware Avenue. The path will connect residential neighborhoods to the Poland Community baseball fields at Johnston Place.

Additional improvements include new curb ramps and truncated domes to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, as well as the addition of new crosswalk lines throughout the project's limits.

Construction on the trail is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2026 and is expected to last several months. During this time, a minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained on Sheridan Road in each direction with flaggers directing traffic.

No road closures or detours are expected, but the existing multi-use path near Delaware Avenue will be closed for up to 14 days to connect the path. This closure may also result in the removal of trees, which provide suitable wooded habitat for various bat species protected by the Endangered Species Act.

Access will be maintained to all adjacent residential and commercial properties except when short-duration driveway closures are required for the construction of the path.

The duration of the driveway closures will be minimized as much as possible. and affected residents will be notified.

The Village of Poland is inviting any comments, questions or concerns from the public regarding this project. This feedback should be directed to Poland Mayor Timothy Sicafuse by October 31 at 308 South Main Street, Poland, Ohio 44514.
