Cover Story: Chiropractor offers adjustments for you and your pets
Some people swear by their chiropractor.
People who have back problems sometimes go in for a few hands-on adjustments and manipulation of the human spine and then after a few sessions... they feel good as new.
But did you know there are chiropractors who not only use their talents for man but also for man's best friend?
"She's a miracle worker! I don't think he'd be walking right now or we'd still have him if it wasn't for her!"
Chris Oberle is talking about his 11 year old lab, Gus who up until recently, had trouble walking.
But after a few sessions with a chiropractor, well, Gus has shown a lot more life.
"My son is grown and out of the house and he's like my kid. He's a family member. I'd do anything for him just like I'd do anything for my kid," added Oberle.
Kristen Detwiler is using some hydrotherapy to help heal her dog Foster's CCL leg tear. "It was kind of a non-evasive, drug-free more natural way to aid in her healing and recovery. (Have you noticed a change?) Yes, absolutely!"
Those are just a couple of the four-legged patients of Chiropractor, Dr. Lisa Braden.
She says she knew she wanted to help pets of all sizes many years ago when her horse needed help from a vet.
"I was telling him about all the issues my horse was having and he said 'have you ever had her adjusted?' I said 'No. Why would I get my horse adjusted I don't even get adjusted.' said Dr. Braden.
But after the treatment, her horse got better and she was found her calling.
"The light bulb went off. This works! That's awesome!" said Dr. Braden.
Now she has new building for her growing practice in Columbiana.
"My goal for the building was to have a human side, because I'll never not work on people, but also have a separate space for the animals because I really love working on animals."
That's right, she professionally treats humans and animals.
What kinds? pretty much all kinds. From dogs, cats, horses, goats sheep..even chickens.
It was a lot of required education, learning about not just human anatomy and our nervous system and muscles, joints and everything else that makes us tick, but also for dozens of different animals too.
"With animals it's not just anatomy you have to learn pathological diseases that come up. I need to know is this chiropractic or not because if it's not, I need to send you to someone that can help you," said Dr. Braden.
Dr. Braden has been adjusting anyone who walks in whether on two feet or four for the last 10 years now. You just have to make an appointment and you might be surprised on who shares the waiting room with you.
