St. John's Academy's late night childcare center celebrates a month of success

A new late night child-care option in Mercer County celebrated a month of success Friday.
St. John's Academy in Sharon provides after school-hours care from 3:00 to 11:00 p.m. St. John's Episcopal Church spent years developing the program with parents who were in need of more childcare.
"We asked the community what they needed and what they answered back strongly is that there wasn't enough second-shift childcare in this community. And we, like every church, want to have more families and bring people in. But now what families don't need is another program they need to drag their kids to. What they need is to know that somebody loves their kids, that they're safe, that they're cared for," Father Adam Trambley of St. John's Episcopal Church told 21 News.
The childcare center offers a variety of enrichment areas for children including STEM and arts programming, Trambley said.
Students in the after-school childcare will receive dinner, snacks, homework support, and different learning opportunities each day they attend.
For example, Mondays are 'Music & Movement' and Wednesdays are 'Wisk & Wonder' day where they create in the kitchen.
