POLAND Poland Township Trustees voted on Wednesday not to move forward with prior plans to build a cell tower.

The tower would have been located near the township's administration building.

The Wednesday decision comes after community members expressed concerns about where the tower would have been located, and the possible effects it would have had on property value and health.

Eric Ungaro, a Poland Township Trustee, spoke to 21 News about concerns that residents had brought to them, and the ultimate decision not to go forward with building a cell tower.

"We were exploring putting in a cell tower here through Verizon. Nothing was ever signed, but we were going in that motion, and some citizens caught wind, and they started asking a lot of questions," said Ungaro.

Ungaro continued," The concerns are that they're saying that it may damage your property value. There's people that believe that they can cause some kind of cancer, or things they don't want around. I think, mostly, people just don't want a big tower in their backyard or anywhere near their backyard," said Ungaro.

Overall, Ungaro said that due to public concern, the township will not move forward with the plans to construct a cell tower at the township administration building.
