AHN plans Wednesday ribbon-cutting at expanded Grove City Cancer Institute

GROVE CITY, Pa. - Allegheny Health Network will celebrate the completion of a renovation and expansion project at the Cancer Institute at AHN Grove City Hospital with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday. The event, scheduled for 10:30 a.m., marks the introduction of a larger facility intended to better accommodate patients and enhance the delivery of oncology services in the Shenango Valley area.
The expansion, which represents a $4 million investment, transforms existing space on the hospital’s first floor. The facility's footprint has nearly tripled, growing from 1,145 square feet to 3,100 square feet. A $1 million commitment from the Grove City Health Care Foundation supported the project, which had been planned for completion by the end of 2025.
The redesigned space aims to improve patient experience and operational flow through several key features. The capacity for chemotherapy infusion bays has increased from six to eight. Each of the new bays features private walls and dedicated space for support people, addressing patient requests for increased privacy during treatment. The number of exam rooms has also been expanded from two to three, a change designed to help reduce patient waiting times and improve access to care.
Additional improvements focus on accessibility and comfort. The new institute features a larger check-in and patient waiting area that can accommodate more patients and is expected to streamline the registration process. Furthermore, a convenient new exterior entrance has been constructed on the south side of the building, providing patients with direct access to adjacent parking and simplifying their arrival and departure from the center.
Dr. Christopher Clark, president of AHN Grove City Hospital, spoke about the initiative, stating the expansion reflects a commitment to providing cancer care for Shenango Valley residents.
“Our extraordinary caregivers helped us conceptualize and design a beautiful, healing environment that prioritizes the comfort, health, and well-being of our patients, and we can’t wait to open its doors later this year,” Clark said in a prepared release.
Attendees for the ceremony are expected to include Dr. Clark; Adam Critchlow, director of operations for AHN Grove City; Dr. David Bartlett, chair of the AHN Cancer Institute and president of the AHN Research Institute; Attorney Tim Bonner, chair of the Grove City Health Care Foundation; and various local elected officials.
The expanded Cancer Institute is scheduled to begin accepting patients on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.
Before the official patient opening, the hospital plans to host a community open house on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, at 2 p.m. The event will allow the public an opportunity to tour the renovated facility before services begin. The Cancer Institute is located at 631 N Broad St Ext, Grove City.
The changes at the Grove City location are geared toward offering a more patient-centered atmosphere while meeting the growing demand for oncology services.
