OSP uses Mahoning County pursuit video to recruit new Troopers

CANFIELD The Ohio State Highway Patrol has added a rock music background to dashcam and body cam video of a pursuit that began in Mahoning County to create a recruitment reel on its official Facebook page.
The footage stems from an incident on June 5, when a trooper from the Canfield Post attempted to stop a 2014 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer around 11 p.m. on Interstate 76 for a marked lanes violation.
According to the OSP, the truck driver initially failed to stop, continuing west for 11 miles. The driver eventually pulled into a fuel station off State Route 225 in Portage County.
The situation escalated when the driver, identified as Brandon Coleman, 30, of Waldorf, Maryland, refused verbal commands to exit the vehicle, according to Troopers.
Several law enforcement units responded to the scene to assist. After repeated failures to comply, troopers broke a window to get inside the locked cab.
Troopers say Coleman continued to resist arrest while being escorted from the truck and onto the ground, prompting the deployment of a Taser. He was then taken into custody.
Coleman was taken to the Mahoning County Jail, booked on charges of obstructing official business, a misdemeanor, and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a felony. The incident remains under investigation.
The recruitment video, which the patrol posted along with a call to action stating, "This is where training meets reality. Think you have what it takes?", directs viewers to an online application for trooper positions.
The OSP frequently uses social media platforms to showcase the duties and challenges of the job.
