STRUTHERS Struthers police have arrested two women following the hospitalization of a 7-year-old boy who was found with multiple injuries.

The boy was admitted to Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman on Tuesday after being brought in by his mother. Hospital staff contacted police, reporting the child was unconscious and covered in bruises.

"Attendants saw that the injuries were consistent with possible child abuse," Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy said.

Investigators said they executed a search warrant at the child's Euclid Avenue home, where they found signs of active cleaning in areas later confirmed to contain biological material.

Roddy said BCI is processing evidence, which he said is sufficient to move forward.

"We saw things consistent with the possibility of child abuse, so we stepped out and waited for BCI to come in, and they're better at a lot of the evidence collection than we are at this point," Roddy said.

Two women who live on Euclid Avenue, Essense Revely, 30, and Kamille Hibbitt, 33, were booked into the county jail on charges of felonious assault, endangering children, and Revely was booked on an allegation of tampering with evidence.

Detectives said they collected swabs of suspected blood from the basement and a dresser shelf at the Euclid Avenue address during their investigation.

Formal charges are expected on Friday.

In the meantime, they are held on "warrantless arrests." That means a judge found probable cause to hold them for up to 48 hours.

Roddy said the child is responding to treatment and remains in critical but stable condition.

Another child in the home is now in Mahoning County Children's Services custody.
