YSU's Dana School of Music hosts open house

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown State University's Dana School of Music showcased what it had to offer prospective students and their families at an open house Wednesday night.
Attendees took a peek at classroom experiences, joined specialized clinics and interacted with the music department's faculty. Afterwards, prospective students headed over to the Butler Institute of American Art to hear music performed by current Dana students.
Dana School of Music Director Joe Carucci tells 21 News nearly 100 students came to check out the programs, which he sees as a sign that the university's arts programs are alive and well.
"This is actually the strongest recruitment class we've had here. I'm going into my fifth year now [and] this is more students than I think we've had for a Dana School of Music open house or University Theater open house in probably the past 10 years," Carucci said.
Carucci says these prospective students range from freshmen to seniors in high school, with some coming from as far as Cincinnati and some even coming from out of state.
