Weekend gear check: Jacket off Saturday, umbrella up Sunday

Good morning! We start Friday with the good news: beautiful clear skies and light winds! Now for the bad news: the outcome is utterly predictable. It is the perfect recipe for a frosty start. Yes, you may need to scrape your windshield as temperatures have falling into the low 30s (temperature bottomed out to 31-degrees which is our first freeze of season - arriving right on cue with the seasonal average of October 16th and tying last year's date of October 17th). But don't despair! Temperatures will jump nicely, giving us a much-needed warm-up as we head into the weekend.

We're getting two completely different weekend days weather wise! Let’s start with the perfect pumpkin-patch weather on Saturday. By the afternoon, we're ditching the chilly start and basking in the low to perhaps mid-70s. Time to make some proper plans to be outside!

Unfortunately, the forecast is also paying the piper with the return of wet weather on Sunday. We're going to start the day with a definite roar, thanks to some serious wind! Gusts up to 40+ mph are expected, and luckily, that strong air movement is acting like a hair dryer, keeping our temperatures up through the night. It's a sweet but brief moment of warmth before the cold front officially arrives. Rain looks to arrive midday, bringing a hefty drink of potentially heavy, windswept rain around lunchtime. Get ready for cozy indoor Sunday plans!

Hope you kept your umbrella handy! By the time the rain ends early Monday morning, totals between a half and one inch are likely, leaving us seriously saturated. And the penalty for all that precipitation? More shower chances returning by Tuesday, followed by a long, frustrating stretch of below-normal temperatures with persistent clouds through the end of next week and a wind that just won't quit. Time to commit to the cozy sweaters for the rest of the work week!
Have a great weekend! See you Saturday evening with your 6pm and 11pm forecast.
