The former director of residential services at Trumbull county Children Services has resigned after being placed on leave as part of an investigation into "a lack of documentation and tracking of Agency funds."

Nicole Hazlett had been with the department since 2018, but was placed on leave on September 15.

Shortly after, on September 24, a police report was filed with Warren police by Trumbull CSB executive director Marilyn Pape, which only indicates that an investigation is underway, but does not specify the nature of the investigation.

The time frame being investigated is listed as being from November 2024 until the end of May 2025.

In response to a public records request, an attorney for CSB provided the letter placing Hazlett on leave, with a note that "there is a broader investigation being conducted by law enforcement that remains active and ongoing."

Hazlett has since resigned from the agency.

21 News has reached out to Hazlett for comment and will update this story if and when she responds.
