ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. - A planned power outage that will affect some Lawrence and Beaver County residents has been postponed a week.

Borough Manager Kevin Swogger says utility company Penn Power notified leaders there that preventative maintenance work slated for Sunday, October 18, has been postponed to Sunday, October 26.

"They're going to be cleaning insulators on the cables and lines coming in, and also the cross arms. A couple of them are damaged and they need to repair and replace them," said Swogger.

However, due to severe weather forecasted for northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania, including high winds and heavy rain, Penn Power, delayed the work.

Swogger says this preventative measure needed to be taken.

Borough leaders have been getting the word out to residents and businesses since being notified Friday morning. If you live in Ellwood City, you're encouraged to keep you refrigerator closed to keep food from going bad.

Work will begin Sunday, October 26 at 7:30 A.M., and take no longer than eight hours to complete.
