HUBBARD, Ohio - On North Main Street in Hubbard, crews from Enbridge Gas are working on a gas line replacement project, which is expected to last through the first few weeks of December.

As the project progresses, it is creating challenges not only for drivers but also for the businesses located on that street.

Kelly Verostko, Customer Relations Manager for Eagle Wear Inc., noted that the construction is affecting their usual foot traffic due to a lack of street parking and lane closures. She mentioned this is the busiest time of the year for the company.

"The timing of this and the lack of communication certainly has had an impact on our business," Verostko said. "Football season...all of the busyness that comes with that, that's like the equivalent of the hustle and bustle of Christmas here at Eagle Wear."

To attract customers, Verostko stated that they are offering a 25% discount on any in-store purchase and working to boost their social media presence.

Just a few doors down from Eagle Wear, Katie Graban, the owner of KT's drive-thru coffee shop, expressed that the road work has deterred her regular customers.

"Sometimes [road crews] are backed up into where our drive through is, so a lot of customers don't know if we're even open," Graban said.

Despite the construction, businesses in the area will remain open and accessible to the public during normal business hours.
