NILES Families took time on Wednesday to gather at Eastwood Field in Niles to not only celebrate the Halloween season, but also to enjoy some trick-or-treating.

The event took place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with children of all ages and family members invited to the 27th annual "Trick or Treat" event, presented by Once Upon A Child in Niles.

Media partners included 21 News and the CW WBCB.

Families and local businesses were able to fill bags with Halloween candies and other seasonal goodies.

Heather Sahli, General Manager of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, told 21 News that the event aims to be a safe and fun event for families to come to every year.

"We do it because Eastwood Field is a great place for families to come out. We want them to be able to come out here and experience a safe evening, have some fun and get some candy for their kids," said Sahli.

Sahli went on to say that about 1,500 kids and family members were in attendance at the trick-or-treat event this year.

Additionally, anyone who brought non-perishable food donations earned a free ticket to attend a Mahoning Valley Scrappers game during the 2026 season.

Businesses throughout the region are also able to participate in the yearly event as a vendor, handing out candy and other resources, if desired.

According to Sahli, a record number of 50 businesses were in attendance at the 2025 event.
