Boardman alumna donates 'Spartan Fever' painting

BOARDMAN Artist and Boardman High School alumna Kirsten Swanson Bowen donated a painting titled "Spartan Fever" dedicated to her alma mater.
Bowen, who graduated from Boardman High School in 1985, created the 60''x40'' piece as part of her 40-year reunion celebration. Her former classmate, Joelene Santarelli of New Middletown, purchased the artwork and then donated it back to the school.
The piece was created in Venetian plaster on canvas and features the Boardman Spartan mascot with the lyrics to the school's fight song in the background.
The painting is now on display in the entryway of the Boardman Performing Arts Center, where it can be seen by students, staff, alumni and visitors.
"This is such a wonderful example of the pride and connection our alumni continue to have for Boardman. The artwork not only captures our school spirit, but it also reflects how our graduates give back in meaningful ways that inspire future generations," said Boardman School Board President Vickie Davis.
A portion of the proceeds from the painting supports Boardman alumni programs and initiatives.
