Arrest made in incident that canceled Valley Christian football game

YOUNGSTOWN An 18-year-old Youngstown man faces another court hearing next week after being arrested on a warrant connected to an Oct. 3 incident at the Valley Christian High School football practice field, where police allege he fled from an officer in a car after threatening a group of people with a rifle.
Edward Agee was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Friday on a felony count of Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of a Police Officer, also known as fleeing and eluding, and three misdemeanor charges, according to court and jail records.
The incident began when Youngstown police arrived at Market St. for a "Person with a Gun" report.
The location is the former South High Stadium, which is used by Valley Christian Schools, where the officer said he was "looking in on the football team". The officer reported seeing Agee running with what looked like a black bag with a strap, later identified as a rifle.
According to the police narrative, Agee entered a Hyundai Sonata and drove toward the officer's marked cruiser, forcing the officer to move to avoid a collision. Agee then drove out of the parking lot and led the officer on a pursuit.
The officer reported that Agee drove onto Market St. "without yielding or caution to any oncoming traffic" and proceeded north "with no regard for stop lights or stop signs". The chase went through Mill Creek Park before the officer lost sight of the vehicle on Glenwood.
Returning to the scene, the Police learned from others that Agee and two other people had come to the location with a rifle, threatening to kill people. A coach and a victim told officers that when they saw the police arrive, the group fled.
Agee's vehicle was later located at a W. Evergreen address and was towed.
Following the alleged threat, Valley Christian School officials canceled the varsity football game with Columbiana Exempted Village Schools that had been scheduled for the following day.
Agee appeared for a video arraignment in Youngstown Municipal Court on Friday. He faces a third-degree felony of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer. He is also charged with first-degree misdemeanors, Inciting to Violence and Inducing Panic, and a fourth-degree misdemeanor, Disorderly Conduct/Risk of Physical Harm.
His bond was set at $7,500 for the felony charge. Agee was released from jail after the court hearing.
A preliminary hearing on the felony charge and a pre-trial on the misdemeanors are both scheduled for Nov. 3, 2025.
