Restaurant in East Liverpool closes doors, cites high repair costs
EAST LIVERPOOL A cafeteria and deli in East Liverpool is permanently closing its doors.
The announcement came from the 6th Street Cafeteria & Deli Facebook page as a message to the community, attributed to Chef Ray.
"This is one of the hardest messages we've ever had to write. After a lot of thought and back and forth, we've made the very difficult decision to permanently close 6th Street Cafeteria & Deli," says Ray.
The 6th Street Cafeteria & Deli is located at 116 East 6th Street in East Liverpool and used to be known as the site of Bricker's Cafeteria.
The restaurant was sold to Chef Ray and his family in January of 2024.
The Facebook post goes on to say that the closure began as a temporary one to complete repairs.
However, after discovering that the issue is much bigger than previously thought, the post cites that repair costs were "too great" for the business to handle.
"We poured our hearts into this restaurant because we truly loved serving our community, seeing familiar faces and sharing good food and laughter with you all," as stated in the post.
The post ends with a "thank you" to the people who made the business possible and to community members who were a part of it all.
