EPA approves application for work on new YNG Aviation Educational Center

The Ohio EPA has approved the Western Reserve Port Authority's Notice of Intent application for work to begin on the 1.9-acre parcel that will be the new site for the YNG Aviation Educational Center at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
The new center will be an 18,000-square-foot facility that will house the expansion of PIA and establish the YNG Aviation Educational Center along Youngstown-Kingsville Road in Vienna Township.
WRPA Executive Director Anthony Trevena said they are still finalizing the details for the groundbreaking.
The project is a $5.5 million project that is being funded by a JobsOhio's Site Inventory Program Grant, and through funding from U.S. Economic Development Administration, the Ohio capital bill, the Ohio Department of Development, Trumbull County Commissioners, the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA).
The center will offer training for new technology, such as advanced air mobility and pilot training for electric vehicle takeoff and landing aircraft.
