The Lisbon Exempted Village School District is holding its 2nd annual Small Village, Big Hearts holiday giving event this year to give back to the community.

Marti Grimm organized the inaugural Small Village, Big Hearts in 2024 with a vision to combine resources, non-profits and donations for one community-wide giving event, a news release states.

"The Lisbon community has been so giving to the students of The Lisbon School District, and we are so very grateful for their generosity not only around the holidays, but year-round," said Joe Sieke, the district's superintendent.

2025's event is bringing in six new organizations with resources and goods to donate, including:

  • Almost Perfect Foundation
  • Community Action Rural Transit System (CARTS)
  • St. George's Church
  • Elkrun Township Tourism Bureau
  • Lisbon Fireworks
  • Community Action Agency of Columbiana County's Reduction in Household Energy Burden Program

Holiday assistance is available for those living in the 44432 zip code by calling (330)424-4013, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, until Nov. 14.

According to a news release, to be eligible, a household must be low-income and provide documentation of living in the 44432 zip code. Food vouchers, toys/teen gifts, blankets, filled stockings, hats/gloves, clothing, backpacks, wrapping supplies and hygiene items are the types of holiday assistance available.

"The event was a huge success last year and we are thrilled to grow it further in our second year. Year by year, we hope to expand this event according to the ever-changing needs of our community," Lisa Baker, director of student services at Lisbon's David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School, said.

The other organizations that plan to help include Clip Joint Wrappers, Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce, Lisbon Assembly of God, Lisbon First United Methodist Church, Lisbon Lions Club, Lisbon Salvation Army, Lisbon Schools, New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, Serenity's Way Under Wraps, VFW Post 4111, VFW Auxiliary and West Point Lions.
